Lessons from What Didn’t Go as Planned

Join us for the next Community Engagement Network session on November 25. This session will focus on something we don’t often talk about — the moments when our partnership work didn’t unfold as expected, and what we learned in the process.

What to expect:

  • A light, humble, and open space to reflect on the challenges of community-university engagement
  • Insights on learning through missteps and uncertainty
  • First-hand stories from colleagues about what happened and how they’re approaching their work differently as a result

This is a great opportunity to learn from one another, to appreciate that missteps are a natural part of reciprocal engagement, and to connect with others doing this work across UBCV and UBCO.

Call for Storytellers

We’re looking for a few colleagues to share short (3-5 minute) stories about community-university partnerships that didn’t go quite as planned. What happened? Why was it a problem? What did you learn? And, what are you doing differently?

We aren’t expecting a Ted talk. No need for slides or polished presentations. We just want you and your stories. If you are interested, you will have the option to tell us during registration. We will follow up before the event with a short prep chat.
