About UBC Connects at Robson Square
UBC Connects at Robson Square is a dynamic initiative that promotes public engagement programming at UBC’s downtown campus. As a two-year pilot program, we strive to empower equitable knowledge exchange between UBC and our local communities. All events supported by UBC Connects at Robson Square are free and open to the public, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to access knowledge and participate actively.
Volunteer Responsibilities
As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting the planning and execution of our events. Your responsibilities may include:
- Registration/sign-in
- Set up and takedown
- Greeting and ushering
- Event photography
- A/V and lights
Volunteer Benefits
- Networking: Connect with event speakers, community organizers, and fellow students, expanding your network and creating valuable connections.
- Exposure to Important Issues: Learn about pressing societal issues and gain insights from diverse voices, broadening your perspective and knowledge.
- Learning Opportunities: Attend presentations, panel discussions, and workshops led by experts, deepening your understanding of the subject matter.
- Personal Development: Develop transferable skills such as communication, teamwork, organization, and problem-solving.
- Community Contribution: Make a meaningful impact by fostering equitable access to knowledge and facilitating connections between UBC and the community.
- Recognition and References: Upon request, references or letters of recommendation can be provided.
